Default Restoring

Dear all,

I am am going to have to format and resintall because tech support
here really sucks. Is it possible in any way to have the dell logo
and such restored as well? For system information will not show it if
I do a format.

Keeping in mind that "tech support here" is other users responding to
problems and not Dell techs online. For Dell support you would need to call
Dell and speak with a tech. If by Dell logo you mean the logo displayed when
you boot, that will stay as it is in the BIOS.

If you mean the system information and the Dell wallpaper, then that info
can be saved to floppy actually. The files you want for system info are in
the Windows\System32 folder. Save the OEMINFO.INI file and the OEMLOGO.BMP
files to floppy. For the wallpaper save the DELL.BMP file found in the
Windows folder. Simply copy them back to the System32 and Windows folder
respectively after you do the format and install.

Regards,
John O.

Are you sure that formatting and reinstalling will solve your problem?

Have you tried the Dell Community Forums? No offense to anyone here, but I
have found that to be an excellent source of reliable information.

Have you searched in the Dell Knowledge Base? You'll find lots of great
information there. Don't miss this article:
"What steps should I attempt to possibly avoid reinstalling Microsoft®
Windows® XP" (Article TT1062461)

If you're determined nonetheless, then at least follow Dell's instructions
for reinstalling:
"Dell Software Reinstall Guide"
