Default Off-topic: lowest consuming chipsets ?

Hi

I have searched around and did not find any overview.

But I remember that 780G is a very low consuming chipset. Right ?
I use it with a 4850E.

How about Nvidia ?

Are there any chipset for Intel that can compare with 780G concerning
this ?

Thank you in advance !

There are system power consumption numbers here, but
I'd have to check whether the main hardware components
used are comparable between systems. I would much prefer
to see power numbers quoted for just the chipsets, but
only Intel offers datasheets for their products.

Thank You,
That made me aware of geforce 9300 for Intel. I am not convinced that
this chipset plus Intel Core2 can compete with 780G+4850E considering
total power consumption. Intel has 45 nm, and the processors use very
little in 'idle mode', I should think. But in 'full load' maybe not.
It is hard to me to subtract 'cpu power' in mentioned article, since I
don't know well the mentioned quad processors.
I have googled:
Phenom 9950BE: max 140 watt
Intel Q9300: max 95 watt

Since the 4850E uses 45 Watt max., that makes a lot of difference.
Intels core2 processors are normally specified with 65 watt max.

my system including monitor, uses 90 watts.
and thats while watching tv on it, my 10 camera
surveillance program, home automation, and more.

e8400
asus p5q
ati 2400
acer 22" lcd
hitatchi 750gig hd

running asus epu six engine helps, but i wish
rmclock would support p45 chipset.

How do you measure the wattage ?

best regards

Well, got in there. Don't judge from a SLI setup (I am not a gamer).

I like better this page:
http://techreport.com/articles.x/15690/12

Under load 100 watt seems to be common, although geforce 9300 and G45
can come 10 watt further down.

Very good insight in this with techreport !

i have one of those killa-watt plugin measuring
devices.

http://www.p3international.com/produ.../P4400-CE.html

also my uninteruptable power supply measures
power, its surprisingly very accurate.
