Default Accessing DVD Drive from a floppy boot

Hello,
On my old PC running XP I used to boot using a floppy disk when I needed to
use my Norton Ghost software and accessing ghost data files on DVD media.
This was working fine.
However now I have my GA-EX38-DQ6 motherboard the DVD drive is not
recognised during the floppy boot (still using XP). It is the same DVD
drive I had before (Pioneer 112 PATA).
This is probably a driver problem, can anyone suggest where I could download
drivers for the motherboard such that the MSCDEX on the boot floppy would
then recognise the DVD drive.

Thank You

Unfortunately that doesn't help.
I have the various drivers from there but they don't seem to work with the
Gigabyte controller on the motherboard.
They did work on my old ASUS board though.

Different controllers. Proper ata/ide cable and not installed
backwards? Drive jumpered for master or slave?

Bios settings correct? Onboard SATA/IDE control mode set to IDE?

I did understand the different controllers is why it didn't work.
Yes - a proper cable is installed the right way around. The drive is usable
in windows.
The drive is jumpered as a master.
I normally operate the BIOS as AHCI as I have the purple gigabyte SATA ports
hooked up to e-Sata so I can do hot swaps.
But when I tested I did switch them back to IDE.

The JMicron site says any device connected to their controllers is
recognised as SCSI (???). I loaded the Adaptec DOS SCSI drivers which also
didn't work. (yes I realise it was a long shot but I was desperate)

Well, it's either some esoteric set of settings in the bios I
believe there is more than one which my cause this , or that
particular controller just doesn't recognize the usual drivers.

I have a different motherboard with a J-Micron controller don't
know if it's the same one and if I set the controller to AHCI or
Native it won't recognize any pata devices. I have to set it to
Legacy.

You could try a SATA dvd drive. They're not that expensive.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

At least you tried and I appreciate the effort.
Thanks anyway
