Default 4X vs 8X AGP

If all else on an agp card is equal what difference could be expected
between a 4X and an 8X card?

Nothing.

In games, nothing. In SPECviewperf, there could be 10-13% gains. Whether
these gains are reflected in the actual 3D and CAD programs are
questionable.

The 4X card has half the signal bandwidth available tha the 8X has. So in a
current video intensive game the 4X would run at lower framerates.

What is a "video intensive game"? A game with a lot of video footage?
Then you obviously don't know that video uses very little gfx bandwidth
and that there is _zero_ difference between AGP2x, AGP4x and AGP8x...

Besides that, there also is no real difference in _any_ current *gfx*
intensive game regarding AGP4x and AGP8x. There is a difference in
certain synthetic benchmarks when run at extremely high resolutions with
lots of very huge textures but the difference is barely a few fps at
best, and certainly not worth mentioning.

Either way, he adds no value to this group. It's hard enough to
communicate effectively on newsgroups, trying to work around people like
DaveW really makes it that much harder for no good reason.

DaveW, do you get off being unhelpful? Go away please.

********. You're assuming the card can max out 4x AGP which it can't.

DaveW (not to be confused with other well meaning Daves of this NG) is a
total asshole who's been spewing out one liner answers and the
ever-retarded "Use 45.23!!!" for YEARS! He hasn't seemed to learn a
damn thing about graphics or trouble shooting and rarely participates in
posts pertaining to things other than drivers for older cards.
