Analysts criticize Sony Japanese PS3 price drop
Sony better drop the price of that thing, the GPU in PS3 is lower-end
than a 7800 GTX. Sammy Moulden wrote: Or: Bliggy and his sockpuppets go into spin overdrive: http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?op...864&Ite mid=2 Analyst: PS3 Price Cut 'Ridiculous' Analysts are already criticizing Sony for cutting the PlayStation 3's price in Japan before launching the system, suggesting the move may be premature. ImageYoku Ihara, head of equity research at Retela Crea Securities told Bloomberg, "It's ridiculous to decide to cut the price before they start selling the PlayStation 3. They may cut the price again if sales don't go well." Sony cut the price of the 20GB hard drive-equipped PS3 under heavy criticism that the system was too costly. The company reduced the price from just over 60,000 yen ($516) to 49,980 yen ($430). Japanese retailers will determine the price of high-end, 60GB PS3s. The price reduction is limited to the Japanese market. Naoki Fujiwara with Shinkin Asset Management added that the cut "is negative for the short term because the company may not be able to sell enough consoles to cover an instant loss caused by the price cut." The PS3 is set to launch November 11 in Japan. |

Yes, but in order to sell the "tons of (overpriced) games", they need to sell tons of consoles first. -- regards, James Luff Gamertag: Lufferov remove 'nospam' to e-mail "There are 10 types of people in the world: Those that understand binary, and those that don't." |
