Default Problem with FX5600

Has anyone out there come across a problem with Grand Theft Auto 3 on a
GeForce FX5600??

I've just brought a new PC to replace my Duron 700 which runs the game ok
using on-board vga.

I am unable to run the game at all. My comp. hangs after the textures are
converted (the yellow bar gets to the end though). Hangs=cpu runs up at 99%.
Can CTRL-ALT-DEL and End Process.

New spec:
AMD XP3000+
512MB DDR
GeForce 256MB FX5600
Windows XP Home
Direct X 9b

I've downloaded all the latest drivers from the nvidia website, but still
the same.

Cheers all,
