Default USB colour coding of cables

white USB 1
black USB 2
blue USB 3
red charging socket

Now I just noticed that all my USB extension cables have white
inserts in the plugs, even the short ones.
Does that imply that they are not guaranteed to push 480 Mbps?

The cabling on this device, has a shield foil visible underneath
the transparent outer jacket of the cable. A shield foil is a good
idea for high speed cables. Only the old 1.5Mbit/sec "keyboard cables"
were made without a shield around the internal conductors. And most
of those cables were "captive" and permanently joined to the keyboard.

That device is USB2 rated. And has white inserts on the cable itself.
Yet it's definitely USB2, as I own several and have tested it.

It's really pretty amazing. I can chain three of those cables
together, and run a webcam off the end. Something that I thought
would not work. But there was enough power down at the end of the
cable, for it to work.
