Default GA-8IRXP - maximum processor

Okay, so I know this is a pretty old motherboard now, but it's served me
well and it's still working great.

I'm trying to weigh up the pro's and con's of upgrading the whole box, or
just trying to get a better cpu than the P4 1.6 I have right now. The
problem is I don't know whether there are any current CPU's out there that
this motherboard would support.

Can anyone give me a heads-up on what's the most this board can support for
CPU's?
Thanks

Aha! Great stuff. many thanks for this, the irony is however, I cant seem to
