CMOS CHECK SUM ERROR

Iam getting an error like:

"CMOS Check sum error", when i turn on the system.

Any one who had an earlier experience like this, or who knows the
remedy, plz
do help me with the reason and the solution for it.

Some times the error will be displayed, and at other times when i
start the system,a beep sound will be heard, the beep sound continues
like that for ever, and the monitor LED blinks.

Any idea why such different behaviours come up on different start ups.

Hi, Although I can't remember exactly what I did to solve the
problem, it may please you to know that it is probably just a setting
in your BIOS. When mine finally booted up, I had not replaced
anything....it was just a setting, maybe a reseating of the graphics
card. Until somebody else comes along, try F2 or F1, when it shows
the error message. That worked once for me. Try removing everything
except the graphics card, and all but one stick of memory, but make
sure the stick is in the right slot...your manual should tell you the
right slot for only one or two sticks. Also of course, you'll need the
CPU.Then start it up. Just keep trying. I'm sure it's a setting and
not any damage to the mb. Sorry I couldn't do better, but someone
will, soon.

Your CMOS battery may be bad. Don't bother replacing it until you
enter the bios setup and resetting the clock. If that don't work,
replace to CMOS battery.
