Difference between Compaq Proliant Xeons and Dell Poweredge Xeons.

Wondering about the difference between Compaq and Dell Xeons. The 700mhz
and 900mhz processors. With the Dells they are marked 2.9v and the
compaqs 5v / 12v. Are these processors able to work in either machines?

That's the big difference between Dell servers and Compaq servers.

My first thought is that you wont be able to move processors from one
vendors machine to the other. Mainly, this is due to the heatsinks that each
vendor uses, and the VRMs are different as well.

The actually processor package is the same though.
