Default Swiftech MCX159-A on a Radeon 9700 Pro

Hi. My GPU fan has just died. I have tried a Vantec Iceberq 4 coller but it
is a bit loud (whining noise) for my liking. The card is a Hercules 9700 Pro
128MB. It is based on the reference design however it has its own custom
heatsinks not only on the memory but also on the back of the GPU as well.
Thus, any attempt to install the Zalman Heatpipe or the Arctic VGA Silencer
will not work because these coolers are not compatible with the back
heatsink on the GPU. The Swiftech MCX159-A (AMD Version) though with the
springs seems to be compatible with reference ATI 9700 Pro cards (i think).
I have also found this thread he
http://www.abxzone.com/forums/showthread/t-62788.html . Please let me know
what u think.

Hi there,
are you sure the ARTIC VGA silencer isn't compatible with the Herc 9700Pro?.
I believe that I read a few reports from owners of the Herc 9700Pro that
have used the ARTIC cooler, but they use the rear clip from the stock HSF in
conjunction with the ARTIC on the front?
