Default cmos battery replacement

My Gateway Performance 450 is about 4.5 years old. I assume it's easy to
replace the cmos battery - just find what looks like a button battery on the
motherboard, take it out, and put in the new one. My question is - is it a
big chore restoring the BIOS settings, or is it likely that the defaults are
what they should be? Should I look at the setup screen and write down all
the settings before doing the replacement? Any other helpful hints or
pointers to helpful websites, etc.?

thanks,
Darryl

There is usually little to reset after a CMOS battery replacement these
days - if you have customized anything, make note of it.

Turn off the power, unplug the system, and the battery is easy to replace.

Edward,

Thanks very much. I don't believe I've ever customized anything that would
be affected, but might write things down just in case. Thanks again.

Darryl
