Default Gigabyte GA-8IHXP and GEFORCE FX 5200

Has anyone got experience of using the GEFORCEFX 5200 with the
GA-8IHXP board?

I'm obviously, concerned about the 'voltage disclaimer' and need to be
absolutely certain that this card is 1.5v.

It states "AGP 2X or AGP 2X/4X/8X universal slot with AGP Bus 2.0
compliant", but nothing about voltages.

Advice most appreciated

Hi Kelvin,

That card will work fine in your motherboard. There is always a disclaimer
on AGP card voltages, both from card manufacturers and motherboard
manufacturers, since the first generation of AGP 1x and early 2x cards
released around six years ago were 3.3v, and they are only compatible with
older first generation AGP motherboards released at that time. They want to
be sure that you don't install an ancient first generation card in the newer
motherboard slot, which could cause problems due to overvoltage. Newer AGP
cards released within the last 5 years or so have lower 1.5v or .8v
requirements and are compatible with all motherboards with AGP 2x or higher
released over the past few years. Note that the GA-8IHXP motherboard was
released around 1 1/2 years ago, just before 8x AGP cards were coming on the
scene and doesn't support 8x AGP, but it will run 8x AGP cards at 4x with no
problems. In the real world, there is a negligible performance difference
between 4x and 8x AGP.
