Losing Hardware Acceleration on GeForce 6600
For some time I have had a peculiar problem with my GeForce 6600. From time
to time, my display suddenly seems to lose the hardware acceleration, causing the colors, contrast, etc, to change. I then have to click on my Display Properties and go to advanced for them to come back. I don't actually have to re-enable the hardware acceleration, just going into the advanced display settings does the trick, but the effect I get when it happens is the same as if I had disabled hardware acceleration. The problem can be caused simply by loading a web page or something or some similarly undemanding function, but it also seems to happen if I make a video display full screen. I tried downloading the latest drivers for my card, but if anything, that seems to have made it happen more often. Anybody else had this problem or have any suggestions? |

Losing Hardware Acceleration on GeForce 6600
The fact that it happens randomly means that it is probably not a driver
issue. It is probably a thermal fault that has developed in the card. I would either return it for repair under warranty or replace it. -- DaveW ---------------- "Jessica" wrote in message ... I don't know, it's not exactly random, it's always associated with an action, it won't just happen on its own, and the fact that I can just go back to advanced settings and get it back without actually changing any settings sounds more like a software issue to me. It's literally like it just "forgets" the driver settings. I will probably be replacing the card soon anyway, I just wanted to hear if anyone might have had this problem or had any suggestions. |
