Reinstall again

The brand new XP Pro installation having been
crapified by AVG9.0 free edition, which instantly
quarantined a dozen just-loaded O/S files, I set
about reinstalling it.

Not so easy! The XP Pro won't get to the reformat
page from the DVD but insists on booting what's on
the HD instead. If you try to start from the
running O/S, it wants a validation code.

The XP Home CD is the same, but since I have a
validation code for it, I can do the overwrite of
the old O/S there.

Then having installed XP Home, the XP Pro DVD will
let you overwrite it with Pro without complaint.

This gets you a clean SP3 which then can deal with
windows update.

I notice AVG 2015 gets a general error and quits
if you try to install it, at the step where it
looks for any updates. That's another reinstall.
