Asus P4B DOA need replacement
I've looked all over the Internet for an inexpensive replacement for a
friends dead board. This is a P4/PC100-133 SDRAM combo and therein lies the problem of finding something (he's not conducive to ebay). Any clues on where else to look would be very welcome, thanks. Peter |

Select "845 845S..." from the Chipset menu. Then search. http://www.motherboards.org/mobot/index.html That will return a number of 845 based motherboards. The 845 boards come in SDRAM and DDR versions. You want an 845S which is the SDRAM version. You should see the Asus P4B listed as an 845S version. (BTW - that means an 845 board, with SDRAM sockets - I don't think the actual chip number is 845S...) The Mobot has entries for each motherboard, and for some there will be a picture of the motherboard. For example, this would be for the old P4B. http://www.motherboards.org/mobot/mo...ds_d/ASUS/P4B/ Since that board is so old (I have one), you'll likely have fun finding something from that era. You might be better off picking up a stick of DDR memory, and searching for a more recent DDR board with S478 socket. That might be a little easier to find. Also, if you use your favorite search engine, and try 845 sdram s478 you can find things like this ($49) : http://www.hypermicro.com/product.asp?pf_id=MBFI103 HTH, Paul |

Well Paul, the link you sent below to the FIC VC31 below is exactly what we
need! (of course). Thanks again, this will serve my friend well until he can afford to upgrade.
