Default Cannot turn printer off, pc reboots

I am having a strange problem. I recently bought this canon i320 printer. My
OS is Windows 2000. I have installed the driver supplied by canon. I can
printout with no problem. There are two way to turn off the printer. One is
the hardware swith in the printer itself and the other is from
printer-properties-maintenance-trun off printer. I have tried both and
the same result. Within 4/5 second of turning off the printer, my pc
reboots. I have no idea why this is happening. Any input is appreciated.
By the way, I have two usb port in my pc and one is connected to a HP usb cd
writer. The other is connected to the printer. I have also a digital camera
which I connect to the second usb port. And now I remember that whenever I
just turn the camera off or disconnect the the camera cable my pc used to
reboot. Now I have to go to add/remove device and shut the usb mass storage
off and then turn the camera off or disconnect the camera cable.

so its not the printer then its the usb controller?simple diagnosis is to
connect these devices to another machine and see if they force reboots. use
the same cables too.
