FX5200U vs. FX5600U

Hi all,

Just curious as to how appreciable a speed difference (flight sims &
first-person shooters) would there be between the 5200 Ultra and the
5600 Ultra?

For what it's worth, I am looking to upgrade from an ATI RADEON 8500.

System: 3Ghz P4 with 1G RAM.

Next, the Ati 8500 is as fast as the 5200 (or the other way round) the
'upgrade' would not make sence.

For such a system, buy a FX 5900 or an ati 9800, however the 8500 is still a
great performer, you might
better wait for a next generation card, so these killers will be cheaper.
(If you really want to, try to get your hands on an Ati 9700 np, and mod it
to a 9700 pro.) Now that's value
for your money (about 200 Euro's for this card is doable).

How would you be able to mod the chip? i m thinking about getting a FX5600
gainward 760xp ultra, but how do i know whether its the old GPU or new one
is it in the part number?
