Default wireless router

Ok. I have setup the wireless router with 128-bit encryption and entered a
26 char key. The authentication mode is "shared". From my windows xp laptop
I am able to connect to the internet through this router.

Q. I did not enter the 26-char key on the laptop. This encryption ensures
that no one can read the data going over this network but what prevents
someone else from connecting to the internet through this router? How would
I do that?

Thanks,

same here, on my main comp (desktop) I did not have to enter the full
character keys but only the default key #1. This is set on the Wireless
router as well as the computer USB transmitter.

With 2 other notebooks in the household I have entered the full encryption
keys.

At the router I have the SSID (Wireless Network Name) hidden for added
security.

All are set on shared mod.
