Minolta Scan Elite 5400
Anyone have experience with this scanner yet? The specifications look
pretty impressive. -- SND

Mine arrived yesterday. Installed with not much trouble. You really have to
pay attention to the instructions. The trick is to install the software before connecting the scanner and to run the scan interface befor inserting any film in it. I have been using SilverFast for several years with a number of scanners and found the Minolta interface cryptic and not friendly; adjusting color negatives is a real hassle. On the other hand, Velvia scanned perfectly... Otherwise, it's fairly fast if you do straight scans (not with ICE or Multi-Sampling), Digital Ice works like a charm although it slows the scans and the 5400 resolution is impressive.
