ATI - AIW - Pro 32meg - Macrovision question NTSC card type
PS: The link I gave doesn't work directly (for me anyway). Go to
http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/ar..._graphics.html and it is halfway down the page (look for submitted by Laltoo). If you have a firewall which allows you to set privacy settings (such as Norton) you have to disable the Privacy Control first otherwise it doesn't allow you to download (it treats you as someone accessing the download from a direct link rather than from the webpage which they don't like for some reason). I don't think this is anything sinister - it seems to be a flaw in NIS Security Control which affects quite a lot of websites. Carol |

Hello is there any way to disable the macrovision so I can backup my vhs's I purchased to VCD/SVCD ? I am using Windows 98 SE with 512 megs of ram if this matters. The AIW software installed is version either 6.2 or 6.3. I tried going to 7.1 but I could not get any vidoe coming in. I am also wondering about something I heard the MMC for this card and my ATI - AIW Radeon (MMC 7.1) if I try and save video as MPEG-1 it is not true VCD compliant for buring to VCD. IS this true and is there a fix for this if I want to use MMC for short clips I want to save? Currently I use VirtualDub and software codecs to save space during captures but would like to experiment with the MMC portion of the software. Oh I cant move to XP because I cant get the video turner to show up in VirtualDub so I am stuck in Windows 98 se. Thanks.......... The web would be a faster place without Spam ! Have you tried using MMC/DVD player 7.7? You won't have to pay for a new CD as you would to get the DVD player element of MMC 8.x; you can download it free. What you need to do is download DVD 7.6 and MMC 7.7; first (after uninstalling your previous MMC software), install DVD 7.6; then, when you install MMC 7.7 it updates it to DVD 7.7. Should work on any Radeon non-mobility card, and, of course, you need the DVD player for the MPEG codecs. It's strange that 7.1 won't work with your card - which drivers are you using (you've presumably installed the capture driver, too?), what's your CPU and hard drive size? patrickp one gig intell p3 / 512 megs ram 80 gig empty hard drive for captures. 7.1 is installed. I had to disable some nortons stuff because it was hosing my divx creations. (errors) I did try 7.6 but got black video. I installed during that incarnation of windows reinstall the 7.7 but it was no good. I hadf to redo everything and start over. About a year later I bought a discounted DVD drive so I have a genreic 16x right now. Right now it just kinda fills on a slot. I reall dont use it but it is there. The web would be a faster place without Spam ! What display driver are you using, Geneve, and have you installed the capture drivers as well? Do you have any problems showing in Device Manager? I think you may have misunderstood my comment about needing a DVD player for the MPEG codecs - it's the software DVD player that provides the codecs, not a DVD drive. patrickp |
