XP vs. Vista
I just got a coupon from Dell Small business for selected desktops.
When you click to look at them, the ONLY OS offered is..... XP! |

When they offer both options on the same computer, you'll have something. Vista, reading about it so far, would be really tempting for that ``clear hard drive and install Linux?'' option, instead of repartitioning. -- Ron Hardin On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. |

XP vs. Vista
I just contacted my Corporate sales person asking her if we were going to be
able to buy a new Dell with XP Pro instead of Vista. Her response was 'yes, for about a year' If you look at the small business site, some desktops are listed with only vista, some still appear to have XP Pro. I think it'll end up for the time being that if you just configure your system on-line, then Vista is the only oprion shown. However if you call and talk to a sales rep, you should be able to still get XP. Perhaps after enough people question the lack of a non-Vista option on the web site, they'll go ahead and make both XP and Vista an option at least for a while. "Tom Scales" wrote in message ... XP vs. Vista
That wouldn't surprise me, as those are typically the systems that are sold
to corporations, and typically corporations cannot just move to a new OS a the drop of a hat. I think we'll just have to wait and see just what the public's response to manufacturers like Dell will be when they no longer have a choice of Vista or XP at least for some transitional period of time.
