What is Embassy Security Center autoupdate.exe?
I have a Dell Latitude D620 laptop. Included with the pre-installed
software is "Embassy Security Center" in the Program Group "Wave Systems Corp". I'm not sure what Embassy Security Center is, and as far as I know I do not use it. I clicked on "Document Manager" once, just to see what it is, and got a message saying that the "security chip appears to be disabled". Anyway, my question here is about the file autoupdate.exe. At Windows startup, autoupdate.exe runs from c: \program files\wave systems corp\services manager\secure update \autoupdate.exe. What is this autoupdate file? Does it need to run at Windows startup? Thank you. |

What is Embassy Security Center autoupdate.exe?
Hi!
The Embassy program appears to manage the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) IC that may be in your computer. (Guess what the first hit on a Google search is for "Embassy Security Center"?) What is this autoupdate file? Does it need to run at Windows startup? Thank you. Most likely "no". It's an automatic updating routine of some sort, probably used to update the components of the Embassy Security Center. If you don't use the program, it should be perfectly safe to disable the automatic updater or even uninstall the program completely. If you're really not sure (and can't find a way to be sure) whether or not you have used the program, it may be best to leave it alone. William |

Thank you. It's a TPM security software. More info he http://www.wave.com/products/esc.asp You can disable it from Windows startup since you're obviously not using the feature. -Stew |

What is Embassy Security Center autoupdate.exe?
Thank you both. Having now read about TPM security software, I am
confident I am not using it. So, I will disable it from Windows startup. Thanks! |
