Printer is not offline but it says it is. Epson Stylus Color 800

Try to print the self-test (press the load/eject button while turning on the printer, then release load/eject after several seconds). If the printer refuses to print, it has an "internal" reason - such as waste pad protection counter full or black ink out. If it prints - there is a problem in interface area. Your friend should check the printer's interface mode - if it's switched from "auto" or "parallel" to "Mac serial" or "option" the printer 's parallel port is offline (I assume we are talking about parallel port connection) Deafult setting mode is entered by pressing "cleaning-color" button while turning on the printer. I sent him a copy of your advice too, and Lee's, and I talked to him on the phone about it today. thanks all.
