Default "Windows Delayed Write Failed"

Does anyone have any idea what this is about?

I just reinstalled Windows XP Pro a week or two ago and I have been getting
these random messages since the first day.

It says it is trying to write something to my external USB hard drive, but
cannot. I wonder if this is a spyware string that managed to hang around?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. TIA

It can't flush the cache to the USB HDD. A simple fix for now is to
disable the caching on the USB drive.
