File System Conversion from NTFS to back to FAT32
it does.
"Free" wrote in message ... Even though PM8 theoretically will convert NTFS to FAT32, I have never been able to actually do it. There seems to always be some catch, e.g. compressed files, encrypted files, some file system error. Try as I might, I could never resolve the problems that PM8 would identify. I *thought* that a networked comuter (W98) could read the NTFS file system from your host because it used the native system to access the file system. Somebody, I am sure politely, will correct me if I am wrong. "Tin-Char D'un" wrote: "Filip" wrote in message .. . Hey, quick question. I know it's possible, because I did it a year or two ago, but just simply forgot since I haven't done it in a while. How do you convert a partition from NTFS back to FAT32 without having to reformat? I need to share an NTFS partition, which is my largest partition, with a WIN98 SE computer and cannot remember how-to convert the file system back to NTFS. If anybody could help me out, I'd be very thankful. Also, if you can think of a way of sharing it without actually converting the file system back, that would also be helpful. The network has two computers. Mine being a WinXP computer with 3 partitions. 2x20GB partitions (1xNTFS and 1xFAT32) and 1x100GB partition (NTFS). My roommates is a Win98 SE computer with a 4GB drive in it. Since I have so much space, I said I would share my music and movies with him, so that he doesn't have to worry about taking up what little space he does have. The router I'm using for the internet connection sharing is a Linksys Ethernet Broadband Router DI-604. Thanks in advance for any replies. Eh, you need a third party program to do that... Partition Magic 8 is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that'll do it. Dave. |
