Default Network Storage Device - Other Uses

I apologize if this is not the exact forum for posing my questions. I
have a Network Storage Device running Linux as a Samba Server (TRENDnet
TS-U200, also appears to be a Cellvision NFS-202U). I am wondering
what additionally I can do with this device above and beyond network
storage and running it as an FTP server?

It obviously has an embedded webserver as that is how the
administration is handled and I can open a port to access the webserver
over the internet, but how about being able to replace the defaulted to
adminstration program with my own hosted website? Is this possible
given that much of the information is flashed? Also, with the USB
ports used to attach USB external drives, I wonder if there is a means
of attaching an USB Webcam and somehow hosting it with this network
device.

Thanks for any advice or pointers.
