Interesting observation. In my neck of the woods 1.5/128 from Verizon is
29.95 a month while 1.5/512 from the cable company is 49.95.

I'll stick with the DSL.

Assuming you mean DSL vs cable, it happens that I have both at the office.
They have been very similar in speed and reliability. We've had cable
service for 4 years and DSL for nearly 1 year. The DSL connection is cut
off once a day around midnight for a short time. The real question is who
the operator is and whether you trust them to keep things working on their
network.

What speeds?

In this area, 368 DSL is $26.95 and up to 1.5 cable is $29.95.
