Default Overclocking a card

I have just purchased a new FX 5200 and I would like to see how far it
can go. The problem is that it is not equipped with a fan (which I
believe is due to the card's limited capabilities) and I'm afraid of
overclocking if I can't keep an eye on the temperature.

What would be a way to find the temperature?

The main bottleneck of these cards is their pathetically slow memory, so
that's your best bet for a decent overclock.

Get a temperature probe.

Don't bother overclocking it as you risk damage. What the POINT of
overclocking? If you NEEDED performance and KNEW the 5200 was such a
low-end card - then why did you buy it?

A $75 Ti4200 with a fan would have smoked it.

Don't you just love it when a guy comes in and ****es on your parade?
Better not overclock - he might tell your mommy!

That's right. But what I noticed is that even if I raise the frequency
by MHz, I get artifacts in some games (Vietcong for example).

What gives?

That means your memory is already at it's limit, unfortunately.

I am unable to find a Ti4200 at that price where I live.

Does that count used ones? I bought a used one for $65. Of course, I live
in the US :-)
