Nero includes Nero Express. It's a switchable option.

AFAIK the version that comes with *most* drives only has one or the other.
Not both.

Nero Express does not have as many options as Nero, it's not as flexible. It
is aimed more towards newbie-type users..

I've been lookin at two similar CD Burners. One is the Lite On 52x24x52

CDRW
Model LTR-52246S Retail . It comes with Nero Burning Rom. The other is the

Lite
On 52x32x52x Beige Color CDRW Drive LTR-52327S. This comes with Nero

Express.

Does Nero Express have exactly the same functions as Nero Burning Rom?

Is Nero Express easier or harder to use? I know it has a different

interface
that is supposed to be easier in some ways. Which would be better for a
Non-newbie? I've been using Easy CD Creater for over 2 years that came

with a CD
burner.

Thanks.

I was wondering if that was the case. Thanks, that answers my question. I'll get
the burner with Nero.

I have ONE rule when it comes to buying cd (or DvD)
burners...

Give NO CONSIDERATION AT ALL to what software
might/might not be packaged with it.

When you buy a car, do you REALLY CARE what brand of
gasoline happens to be in the tank when you pick it
up???

I think most burners do the job well. The software might very well be
the deciding factor for me. I've had all sorts of burners and they all
burned CDs so that I can read them much later. That is the real test,
no?

IOW, it doesn't have to have ANY software. Which means you can't use
your purchase until you have a program in hand. That would not be
adequate for me.

I would say that this "rule" of yours would apply only to experienced
users, already having purchased at least one other burner.

All I can tell you is that my LiteOn came with a CD with a full
version of Nero 5.5. When I went to the update site, it downloaded
the full Nero Rom Burner and part of the download was the Nero
Express. I can select between the two. I did not buy a retail CD.

The only problem with this is the software you want can cost more than the
burner. Unless cars are very cheap where you are, a tank of petrol should
not be more that 0.5% of the price of the car.

That's the DEMO Nero. It's the one you can download off the ahead
website at www.ahead.com and is also used to upgrade previous versions
of Nero if major revision number (the first number in the version #)
is the same. If this is what you got, you can pretty much say that
you got NO BUNDLED BURNING SOFTWARE.

The OEM versions bundled with drives are typically locked to the brand
of drive it was bundled with via an ID string in the firmware. Other
than that, they're full versions, with no other limitations. Looks
like maybe 70% of the newer drives bundle this as the burning soft.

There are also apparently some non-denominational OEM versions (my own
phrase) out there, as one fellow on this group some time back said he
purchased such a copy from a dealer at a computer show. This would
make it the full version with no limitations at all, just like the
boxed version.

As for Nero vs Nero Express... The more recent versions of Nero have
been integrated with Nero Express. You can choose to use the old
fashioned Nero interface or the dumbed down Nero Express frontend.
The difference? Nero Express runs with the /w switch.
