Default DVI output of a Radeon 8500 LE

Hi all.

I've been using for 1.5 year a Radeon 8500 LE 64 Mb.

I did buy a few days ago a LCD monitor : Hyundai Q17.
It has a VGA & a DVI input. :-)

But I can't manage to use the DVI output :-(. I just get a
black screen. I'm using 1280x1024 @ 60 Hz : the monitor's
preferred screen size & frequency.

When I'm using the DVI = VGA converter (sold with the board)
+ the monitor's VGA input, all's OK and the screen is at the
expected size/frequency (60 Hz).

When I'm using the analog connection, the ATI driver does find
the monitor. But it refuses to swith ON the board's DVI output
for any unkwnown reason. If a ask the monitor to switch to its
DVI input, it goes to black for a few seconds, and switches back
to the analog input automatically.

Does anybody have an idea why I can't use my board's DVI output ?

Note that the monitor's DVI input has been successfully tested
on a friend's computer (Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 64 Mo).

My configuration is :

MSI K7T266 Pro2 (bios 3.7)
AMD Athlon XP2000+
WinXP pro SP1
Latest driver available at ATI (6.14.10.6378).

Thanks for your help.

Best regards.

You are out of luck if you are using 8500LE -- check your user manual
-- it does not support digital flat panel: "Digital flat panel support
(RADEON 8500 only)". There is no digital output and if the connector
is in fact DVI, it will be DVI-A -- analog only. Your friend's 9000
**DOES** have DVI-D (digital) output and that's why it works....
Sorry!
