Suggestions for Core 2 Duo systems that use PCI - not PCI express?
Isn't the cheapest Intel CPU that's called a "Core 2" about
$120? That seems a a bit higher than bottom of barrel when you can get a dual core Athlon x2 for $40. Pricewatch has an Intel core 2 for $35. It really depends on his definition, there is an Intel celeron for $5. --g |

While there are now Celerons and "dual core Pentiums" using the same Core 2 architecture minus as much L2 cache, they are not called "Core 2" except those misnaming them on certain 'sites like Pricewatch. Further, the $35 part on pricewatch is Core Duo, not Core 2, mobile processor for laptops, not desktops. |

I am unable to find any reference on the Intel web site to a Core2 Duo Celeron. If you can find such an animal, please post the Intel reference. |

But there's one hell of a difference in performance. -- Conor I only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good either. - Scott Adams |

Keep in mind the OP was hoping for 3X the speed of a 2.4GHz P4, an E1400 isn't likely to achieve this. |
