Default S-ATA drive = systen tray icon

Is there any way to remove the "safely remove hardware" icon in the system
tray that comes as a result of using a SATA HDD.

I'm one of those people who hates icons dominating my system tray.

Mine does not show on the list when the icon is left-clicked, but only the
active firewire drives. My SATA is connected to an on-chip controller
(ICH5R) and is recognized in the bios, while the FW drives are not. Is
yours connected to a PCI or on-board (not on-chip) controller?

I guess that's a manufacturer specific feature as our SATA interface
certainly doesn't do that.

Cheers, Rob.

Maybe he set it to 'removable' in Device Manager and forgot about it?

Cheers, Rob.
