Controller that allows drives over 137gb limit??

I have an ASUS motherboard with an AMD Athlon 2000. It's around four years
old, and it has W2k installed.

I would like to install a larger hard drive than the 137gb limit, perhaps a
250gb to 300gb, but I don't want to partition it into smaller segments. I
know that normally an older motherboard has it's size limits unless you find
a BIOS upgrade, but I also know that some companies will come out with
devices that will allow a computer to do things that normally could not be
exceeded or done.

Is there some type of controller card available that can be plugged into a
PCI slot that allows a larger drive to be used beyond the 137gb limit
without partitioning?

You can get a Promise or SIIG PCI controller card, anywhere from
$15-$50. I don't know about SIIG, but Promise cards include driver
software to add 137G support to Windows, even versions as old as 98.

www.esupport.com sells BIOS upgrades, normally about $50, but if you
purchase by e-mail they're only $25.

SIIG cards do too, as well as highpoint cards.

Have you yet to check the Asus website whether they are having any BIOS
upgrade that might overcome this HD size limit ?
