sudden loss of connectivity with WIFI Linksys router
I have a Linksys Ac1200+ router that I seemed to have suddenly lost WIFI
access to. My router connection name no longer appears in my laptop settings for WIFI. If I hardwire connect, all is normal with Internet access. I've checked router settings, and WIFI appears to be enabled for both bands. I've turned the router off and then back on, as well as unhooked my Internet network cable, but WIFI still won't show on my laptop listings. My other wireless routers work fine and show up. What could be the problem? Thanks. |

What could be the problem? Thanks. If the unit has the ability to "back up" a profile, I'd start by doing that. Then, I'd deliver the RESET sequence to the thing, and configure it from scratch. Maybe there is a bit set somewhere which is disabling the radios for example, a setting which doesn't have a counterpart in the web interface. If it has band selectors, you could also try disabling and re-enabling the bands individually. When my Linksys product failed years ago, I took it all apart, and verified the connectors were all seated. It didn't help, because the firmware bricked, and the path to reload the firmware, gets broken when the unit bricks. Which at the time, I thought to be a really clever feature. I could not think of a good way to bypass that path, so it sits dead in my junk closet. I suppose I could have unsoldered the flash, but... too much work :-) The $40 router that replaced it, more than made up for it. Paul |

I didn't do anything other than the above, and that was all yesterday. Time will tell I guess if the problem resurfaces. Definitely an odd occurrence. Thanks for your response. |
