New AMD Bartons Locked
A buddy of mine who builds computers for a living, reports he got an AMD
Barton 2500+ that won't overclock. He thinks the party is over. He's been built 7-10 Barton 2500+ / Shuttle AN35N-Ultras and overclocked all of them to 3200. This last one won't overclock. (yes, he has the latest BIOS). Has anybody else experienced this? Is the party over? Dallas |

Is the party over? Where have you been the last several months? They've been that way since week 39 of 2003. You can still take a 2500 to 3200+ by changing the fsb from 166 to 200. |

No, you don't understand.. he can't take the fsb to 200. He is a cut and paste of the message: Here's what I know. It comes up with an error if set on a 200mzh bus frequency that says F1 to continue or Del to enter the bios. The message includes chilling text about cmos errors, etc. Continuing with F1 it boots just fine but does not call itself a 3200+, just lists as a Barton running at 1100 with the 200 bus. Dallas |

Tell him to give it 1.75vcore or even slightly more and try it. He can always try lowering it if it boots. I can't see how they can lock the FSB. -- ~misfit~ |
