Replacing the toner cartridge did not help since the "image fuser" part was damaged. Not sure about the cost for a fuser on your printer but for us, we replaced the printer (cheaper.) |

I assume the line is vertical. 1. Press MENU to open the MENUS. 2. Press DOWN to highlight DIAGNOSTICS. 3. Press MENU (or Tick button) to select DIAGNOSTICS. 4. Press DOWN to highlight DISABLE CARTRIDGE CHECK. 5. Press MENU to select DISABLE CARTRIDGE CHECK. Remove the magenta cartridge and print an internal test page. If the line is missing the Magenta cartridge is the problem. If the line is still there, try removing each cartridge one at a time and see what difference it makes. To exit this diagnostic test, press STOP and then select Exit diagnostics. I would expect a thin line to be visible on the drum in the cartridge at the same position if the cartridge was to blame. Remove the cartridge and open the shutter, look for a line around the drum. Don't touch the drum! If the fuser was damaged I would not expect the line to be red, but you can power off the printer. wait at least ten minutes to allow the fuser to cool down. Remove the fuser by lifting the top cover and unscrewing two green screws, lift the fuser out and examine the rollers (don't touch them), if there is a line around one of the two large rollers at the same position on the page then that will be the issue. thanks for the help.. i havent been the one working on this, i was
just looking for some kind of answer.. as far as i know the line showed up.. and then the fuser said it was at the "END OF LIFE" so it was replaced. they said the cartriges were all replaced too and that there was nothing showing up on the rollers.. but i'll pass this info on to the person who was handling the printer. thanks! OK, if that is the case a couple of questions you could ask. Did the problem go
away temporarily when the cartridges were replaced? This would indicate a known problem with this printer, I doubt this is the case however in this instance. See http://www.partsnow.com/service_today/0905tt.asp for an explanation, as I said I doubt this applies here. Also in the diagnostics menu go down to PQ troubleshooting and select it. An instruction page should print out explaining how to use it. If it is not the fuser or a cartridge then It just "may" be a laser scanner lens. I would normally expect a dirty lens to cause an absence of output rather than an unexpected output but strange things happen. If they remove all of the cartrdiges they will see four lenses, one behind each cartridge. They can be cleaned with a non-abrasive window cleaner used sparingly. In particular they should very carefully check for what might only be a tiny speck of something on one of the lenses (probably the Magenta one) it doesn't take much to cause a problem.
