Advice on Two Components Needed
I spoke to my Brother today and he told me he just purchased a ASUS
A8N32-SLI Deluxe mobo and a Nvidia GeForce 7950 GX2 graphics card. He said that he is having trouble getting the card to work properly and can only get one of the cards working. I'm still using AGP so was not able to advise him on what he should do. So, I thought I would ask a couple of questions here Firstly, is this card compatible with this mobo? Secondly, if it is, how do you get it to work properly? Apologies for being a bit vague about his situation. Cheers. The A8N32-SLI is like the poster-boy for SLI motherboards. It is quite compatible with the 7950GX2. Be sure he has the latest BIOS release. Your brother isn't running Vista by any chance is he? Current nVidia Vista drivers don't support SLI. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Smith & Wesson: The original point and click interface. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yes, but isn't single-action more accurate, so technically two clicks? -- "War is the continuation of politics by other means. If those dont support the card then try the manufacturer's website, maybe they have a quick and dirty hacked up driver which does support it ! Bye, Skybuck. |

He's not running Vista but he does have a AMD Athlon 64 processor. I'm not
sure if that's relevant but I thought I would mention it. Cheers. Si "First of One" wrote in message ... "Si" wrote in message ... Advice on Two Components Needed
Just got an email from my Brother saying that his son reckons the reason
they can only get one card working is due to the fact that their system is 64bit. Can anyone confirm that this card will not run properly on a 64bit system? Cheers. Advice on Two Components Needed
His son is mistaken. Both the nVidia Windows 32-bit and Windows x64 drivers
explicitly support the 7950GX2 and SLI game profiles. -- "War is the continuation of politics by other means. Would they need to be running Windows XP Pro 64 for it to work properly or
should it work on the normal Windows XP Pro? This is what my Nephew is now saying the problem is but, again, I think he's wrong. Cheers. Si "First of One" wrote in message ... His son is mistaken. Advice on Two Components Needed
The Athlon64 can run either XP Pro 32-bit or XP Pro 64-bit, and the 7950GX2
can work in either environment. In fact, Athlon64 + 7950GX2 is a fairly popular combination. -- "War is the continuation of politics by other means. Thanks for your help and advice First. I've no idea what they're doing wrong
but I think I'll leave them to it Cheers. Si "First of One" wrote in message ... The Athlon64 can run either XP Pro 32-bit or XP Pro 64-bit, and the 7950GX2 can work in either environment.
