Heat issue. Need cooler for 2400+ Asus A7V8X-W mobo
I dont know what will fit this socket seven motherboard. Noise is not an
issue, Thats what speakers are for Its getting abot 50C idle and into the 60's when on a load. Its causing restarts. Any recomended coolers? I hear Coolermaster and Thermalright are great brands, but I dont know what will fit this board. |

What did you have in mind? It doen't look to be particularly bad and does have the 4 through-board mounting holes. I used to have an A7V333 which was laid out similarly and had an Alpha Pal8045 on it for awhile, but these days there are better 'sinks. Thermalright makes several good 'sinks and has compatibility charts where they've tested some against your board (A7V8X is same as the "-X" version around CPU socket). http://www.thermalright.com/support_default.htm In their charts, if it's listed and no remarks, that means it's compatible. I suggest something in the slk-800 or -900 (947) series or SP-97 |

Scratch that.... I took apart tghe HSF and studied it realy close and I
found that the retention clip was BACKWARDS! It was not applying pressure to the die of this chip and not cooling it very effeciently! The ilde was at 41C and its maxing at 51C now! Nice drop for a switch on the retention clip! Thanks anyways. Doesnt look as if I need a new cooler! "kony" wrote in message ... On Sat, 11 Dec 2004 20:57:27 GMT, "Clob" wrote: Anyone?
