Default Sound pops

All was fine until I put a new Gforce FX5500 in my machine. Now when I
load a game that uses hardware accelaration I get poppin noises.

The sound is a Cmedia ac97 onboard

I have tried all the new drivers.

Suggestions please

Maybe get a new sound card. "Creative" is the best and is game friendly.

Take a look.

The sound hardware is possibly sharing an IRQ with your graphics card. On
my PC the sound codec has IRQ 17 all to itself. I get no pops at all. Run
msinfo32.exe; see what you can find.

In Control Panel-- Sounds & Audio Devices-- Sound playback (Advanced)--
Performance, I have hardware acceleration and sample rate conversion quality
set to max.

Tony.
