Default P4C800 Deluxe and Nvidia Fx5600 Ultra

Hi Folks,

I have just installed an Asus P4C800 DeLuxe mobo and the video card is
a Gainward Ultra 760XP golden sample. I have two problems.
1) when I bootup, when the Asus splash screen is showing I get 1 beep
plus three shorter beeps. According to the user manual this would
point to the video card not being recognised by the bios or the video
memory is faulty. The system continues to boot into Windows XP and all
things seem to be working, according to Sandra Max3, ok. Also I am
unable to select any higer refresh rate than 60Hz with my NEC LCD
1880SX panel and unable to select a screen resolution of 1280x960
which I could with my previous Geforce 3 card.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

regards,

Ian.

There is supposed to be a beep for each USB device detected. Anyway, your
computer boots up fine so these beeps don't indicate anything wrong.

With regards to the refresh rate, I had the same problem when using the .inf file
that came with my monitor, yet its advertised optimal setting is 1280x1024x75Hz.
Remove your monitor 'driver' and use Windows' own generic plug & play one.
If that still fails to work then go to Display Properties-Settings-Advanced-
Monitor. There should be a checkbox with a label similar to "hide modes that
this monitor cannot display" - maybe.

Tony.
