Update Firmware?
Hi, could anybody tell me if it is possible to upgrade the firmware on my
Liteon LTR32123S ? http://www.liteonit.com/english/engl...d-firmware.htm If so, what would be the advantages of doing so? Q23 Do I have to upgrade the firmware? A23 A firmware upgrade is not necessary if the device is operating properly in your PC system. HTH -- Regards Morgan How I fixed my noisy IBM drive www.flyinglizard.freeserve.co.uk |

Thanx for that Morgan,
I heard that updating may help with certain media? Could you tell me where I can find the questions that you quoted? Maybe it is obvious, but I can't find them ) "Morgan" wrote in message ... You are welcome...

Yes, a newer firmware version may improve compatibility with certain media

One of the reasons that I asked the question is that I bought some Datawrite
40x Silver Premium Discs, made by Datasafe Media and they will only write at 24x on my machine, Thanx again to you both. "Robert Hancock" wrote in message . ca... One of the reasons that I asked the question is that I bought some Datawrite
40x Silver Premium Discs, made by Datasafe Media and they will only write at 24x on my machine, Seems bizarre doesn't it, in that I have some Infiniti blanks that I can write at maximum speed (52x) and have zero problems. When my friend uses them they only allow him to burn at a maximum speed of 24x. I suppose that they can be many variables between our hardware that might explain it but both Liteon drives have the same firmware so it can't be that, can it...? I wonder if Nero can be 'told' what speed to burn the disc at rather than the maximum speed being derived from the drive 'reading' the disc...? -- Regards Morgan How I fixed my noisy IBM drive www.flyinglizard.freeserve.co.uk |

Sure - just before you hit burn, you have option to select which speed to burn. Select lower (or higher) and go. |

Recorder Choose Recorder.. Options Uncheck "SMART-BURN Enabled"
"Morgan" wrote in message ... Sure - just before you hit burn, you have option to select which speed to burn. Select lower (or higher) and go. Agree but if Nero only allows you to go up to 24x then there is a problem - even though the discs are rated as being compatible upto 48x and I use them at 52x -- Regards Morgan How I fixed my noisy IBM drive www.flyinglizard.freeserve.co.uk |

Hi, could anybody tell me if it is possible to upgrade the firmware on my Liteon LTR32123S ? which one have you ? the last firmware is the XS0Z I've flashed my LTR32123S (was XS0X on delevery) The most visible change is the burning mode, ie : z-clv to p-cav If so, what would be the advantages of doing so? ??? did no harm ;-) I don't burn a lot, but any brand at hand, no trouble ... Thanx in advance. my pleasure |

I agree, and I normally burn at 16x (32x if I'm in a hurry) on my 48x
even if it allows faster. Morgan seemed to want to know why, with the same blanks and burner, he & his friend had different max burning speeds. The Smart-Burn setting is a possible reason. "SleeperMan" wrote in message ... wrote: Recorder Choose Recorder.. Options Uncheck "SMART-BURN Enabled" Generally it's not such a good idea to shut off smartburn. It seems that specific media just doesn't meet requirements. Also once it happened to me similar at MMORE media - i bought two packs - one was burning perfect at 32x, while other some were burning at 12x only, and a few of them didnt't burn at all (i've got burn error and coaster). |
