Athlon X2 6000+ ram upgrade?
hey guys, ive got a nice shiny new Gigabyte AM2+ mobo and 4870X2 on order
and am using Vista 64bit with PC2-6400 4 GiB of ram and a Athlon X2 6000+, ive been wondering if i should look at uping that to PC2-1066 16 GiB or so. With vista taking up so much ram, im worried that as soon as i get back into video converting/editing and heavy gaming having less might serve as a seriously bad thing. Anyone have any exp here? and yes i have pushed this thing to using all its ram on 32bit xp, thats why im asking |

Like beauty and wealth, there is no such thing as too much memory. RAM is cheap, as is disk space. And it will help the economy. There seem to be sharp knees in the price/capacity curves for RAM at various points though, and most motherboards only have a limited number of simm slots. The last time I looked, 2gb sticks seemed to be available in huge numbers and fairly cheap (and 2gb x 4 slots = 8gb); while there were 4gb sticks around, they were a lot more than 2 times the cost of a 2gb... -Miles -- Egotist, n.
