Default Bridge connector question

Hello all,

I am considering upgrading my motherboard and PSU and adding a second
EVGA 8800 GTX so I can run SLI. The strange thing is the cards don't
seem to come with the SLI bridge connector and the motherboard I am
looking at does not seem to have one either (ASUS Striker II Formula
780i). I do have one still in the box from my wife's A8N32 SLI board.

Would this bridge connector work on two 8800 GTX cards or are there
different specifications for that little connector? Oddly enough I
haven't seen a lot of information about those things mentioned before.

Many thanks,

Bryan

Newegg shows a bridge is included with Striker II Formula. And the
unlabeled item, is a three way bridge. So there are actually two bridges
in the package. The bridge should be included with the motherboard,
because the bridge takes into account the slot spacing on the
motherboard.

The downloadable PDF manual has a "package contents" page, section 1.2 .
That is one way to verify you got everything that is supposed to be there.

Default Bridge connector question

Thank you very much for that information. I must have missed the two
connector bridge in the pictures. I am looking forward to configuring
two of these cards and really cranking up the visuals. Hopefully they
will be quieter than the 9800 GX2 I was originally considering.

Default Bridge connector question

Is the 9800GX2 supposed to be loud? Looking at the photos the fan is pretty
large (which means it doesn't have to spin that fast) and gets plenty of air
from both sides of the card.

The Techreport blogcast reviewed it a couple of weeks ago and they
said it was loud. I haven't seen one personally though so I can't
speak from first hand experience, but I believe I have heard others
mention that as well.
