Default faster video card or processor?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying a Dell XPS laptop. In terms of gaming power
(FPS in Crysis, for example), which combo would be preferable:

1. Core 2 Duo Extreme X9000 processor plus an NVIDIA GeForce 8700MGT
with 512 MB GDDR3 memory

2. Core 2 Duo T8300 processor plus an NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX with 1
GB GDDR3 memory

The other components of the systems are the same.

Thanks,
Daryl

What's the screen resolution of the laptop. I'd go with more CPU
horsepower for a laptop though I don't know anything about either of
those GPUs (I have a 8600 GTM in my Macbook Pro).
At lower resolutions (meaning less than or equal to 1440x900) the cpu
will be your bottleneck.

I plan to attach the laptop to a regular PC monitor for gaming
purposes. Therefore I'd like the resolution to be as high as it can
get.

Are you considering one of the specialty Alienware notebooks? That is
the only way I can see 1G of memory on a notebook video card, and it's
not SLI.

If so, you can and should fully customize your notebook, and select the
better processor from the first option, and the better video card from
the 2nd.

Obviously, your budget allows it.

I'd get the fastest GPU.

That's what I was thinking too. The two choices are about equal in
cost. If I got the best of both, it would be ~$700 more.
