Default Hot GPU and Doom 3 benchmark update

So I decided to splurge and upgrade my 6800GT to a 7950GT. Put in an order
for the Asus 7950GT, which arrived two days later for only $6 shipping
(Newegg rocks). Here's what I've found:

- nTune now reports GPU Core temp of 55 deg C while idling, as opposed to my
6800GT which had a reading of 81 deg C. This temp seems to be stable even
during gameplay, and seems more in line with the temps mentioned in the
"Show me your Temps.." thread on 03/16/2007.

- Promptly OCed the card (from 550 / 700) to 613 / 777 MHz via nTune without
issue.

- Ran Doom 3's "timedemo demo1" benchmark (640x480, low detail and 1024x768,
medium detail numbers left out as I think they were even across the board
and probably not GPU limited):

6800GT, factory clock speed
1600x1200, Ultra: 47.0 fps (1st run), 52.9 fps (2nd run)

6800GT, OCed to 386 / 516 MHz
1600x1200, Ultra: 48.4 fps, 57.3 fps

7950GT, factory clock speed of 550 / 700 MHz
1600x1200, Ultra: 60.5 fps, 75.6 fps

7950GT, OCed to 613 / 777 MHz
1600x1200, Ultra: 61.8 fps, 75.9 fps

Impressive. Then I loaded up Quake 4, where I was running at 1600x1200,
High, where there was a noticeable increase in smoothness. The same was
observed with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, at 1600x1200, and now Company
of Heroes runs at 1600x1200, High Detail whereas before I could only run at
800x600, Low Detail.

This was on my P4 3.6 GHz, 1 GB RAM, WinXP Pro.

Overall a worthy upgrade, IMO. Game on!
