CPU frequency keeps changing under XP
When I go to my computerproperties the CPU report is never
consistent. it should report 3.11 GHz. but when I refresh it , it drops to 1.9 GHz then 777 Mhz, then back to 3.11 GHz. How can I fix this so Windows reports my CPU constant @ 3.11 GHz? TIA!!! CPU frequency keeps changing under XP
Problem solved. I had a GIGABYTE utility named " EASYSAVER"
When turned on it lowers the CPU GHz and throttles it up when needed. I turned it off, now XP shows 3.11 GHz all the time! And why do you want both cores running at max vcore and cpu speed all the time? It uses more power, when it isn't needed. Not to mention generating a lot more heat. I've got a 4 core and 80% of the time all four cores run at 800MHz. When more processing power is needed, one or more cores increase speed to meet the demand. |
