Default Help needed urgently re. Athlon XP compatibility

MY motherboard Gigabyte 7zMMH v2.1 with latest f11b BIOS with 768MB
PC133 Crucial RAM

Thanks for reading.

Just upgrading my Duron 800 to an Athlon XP2400 266FSB.

Changed the jumper on the mobo to 133Mhz and the machine will not even
POST with this chip installed, no beep, no video or anything, so I
switched back to 100FSB and installed the Duron again and it works
fine.

According to this link, my mobo should be compatible with this chip
http://uk.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/...t_GA-7ZMMH.htm

this is the CPU I bought
"AMD AThlon XP2400 266FSB 256Cache Thoroughbred Retail Boxed Inc
Heatsink & Fan with 3year Warranty " but using 80mm Coolermaster fan

If the link works, it was bought here
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=43354

Is the CPU dead or will it just not work, I need to know before
requesting an RMA

Off hand I would say to use the 100 mhz bus.

Try clearing the bios before you boot but after you install the cpu.

Tried clearing the CMOS but nothing. After removing the Athlon CPU, I
noticed there was no 'melted gunk' overflowing around the core like
there usually is. I reckon the CPU was DOA so I have RMA'ed it back.
Lets see what happens with the next one

Incidentally, I did try booting at 100Mhz but got the same response.
