Default Are the Mercury Elite firewire 800 harddrives going to become available soon?

Does anyone know when (or even if) the Mercury Elite firewire 800
drives will become more widely available any time soon? Currently you
can only get them directly from the company's website, but I'm going
to wait (if possible) until there's some more competition from other
online vendors or retail stores so the prices will go down. Anybody
know? Thanx
