HP Pro 8 Tablet
During recent years, HP has issued ca. 3 tablets with names similar to
Pro 8. This is about the most recent one called HP Pro 8 Tablet issued 2017 in India thus far. Tablet News at https://tablet-news.com/hp-pro-8-tab...rise-features/ describes a few aspects of the tablet, fails to mention resolution, ratio, operating system and version, thickness, weight, has recently started to moderate its rare discussion and promptly rejects the following message, with which I also provide the missing essential information: What does "sunlight readable screen" mean - matte or glare? According to http://gadgets.ndtv.com/hp-pro-8-4383 the resolution is only 1200 x 800, which might explain the good battery life and, if correct, means a barely acceptable 3:2 ratio. However, the display seen on a frontal picture there suggests a totally useless 16:10 ratio. Android 6.0 is a terrible security problem and an unproductive operating system. Only Indian enterprises might tolerate the advertisement "designed for enterprises". 11.9mm is too thick and the weight of 488g is too high for casual use and can only be tolerated for dedicated ruggedised use. "Sunlight readable screen" sounds so promising but where is the Windows tablet with matte QXGA (that is, 4:3) display and thin, light design for long handholding but good battery duration nevertheless? |

The best place to get information, is from HP. It has all the same information as "promotional web articles". http://www8.hp.com/in/en/products/la...l?oid=16129873 http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/getpdf....mode=bookmarks "This product has Android 6.0 Marshmallow Operating System pre-installed. Upgrade to Android Nougat available by the end of 2017." "Size 8 inch diagonal Resolution 800x1280 Brightness Typical 500 nits (cd/m2) --- helps in sunlight... " You won't know whether it's worth buying, until someone actually receives a review unit. And does a review. It's basically an "eight inch SmartPhone for $300". Paul |
